COUNSELING
"The greatest gift you can give your baby is a strong relationship
between the two of you." ~John Gottman, The Gottman Institute
First, please know that I've been there! I get it!
The transition to parenthood is challenging, even for the strongest relationships. Preparing for a new baby, finding
solutions to the challenges that a new baby presents, and addressing the relationship between parents are critical
issues for every new parenting couple.
As a therapist in Austin, I specialize in working with couples to connect as they become a family with their new little
addition. The arrival of baby changes a home and the relationship. Expectations and assumptions are challenged.
Post-partum depression, a very real condition, may surprise even the least suspecting mother. Fathers are not
immune to the changes a new baby brings and can be as surprised by them as the mother.
As a certified educator in the Gottman Institute's Bring Home Baby Program, my goal is to help couples proactively
prepare for and adjust to bringing a new baby home. This approach includes sharing practical, proven strategies
designed to make this transition one that brings the most joy and least turmoil to the relationship. This is a
researched-based approach to preparing couples for the arrival of a baby and/or helping adjust after the baby arrives.
Let me help you give your baby the gift of a healthy, loving, and respectful relationship between his/her parents.
Parenting (which begins in pregnancy) presents its own, new set of:
relationship issues, pre- and post-baby concerns, post-partum depression, isolation, fear, co-parenting, anxiety, depression, coping skills, and self-esteem challenges.
